Jason King

Filmmaker & Photography

A little bit about me..

Since graduating from Newport Film School Wales in 1999 I have successfully set up and ran a production company ‘Those People Productions‘ and a community interest company Hearthstone Ways. I have produced a number of short films with funding from the Arts Council Wales.  Many of the films were nominated for a number of awards including shortlisted for a Bafta Cymru.
I  have directed several lottery funded Short Films that have been broadcast and screened on TV and cinemas around the world.
I was awarded a large sum of money to write my first feature film and went on to be selected to attend the ‘Berlin Talent campus‘ as one of the best “Up and Coming” filmmakers of the world.
I was selected as one of twenty-five UK filmmakers to be awarded a professional mentor, as part of the ‘Guiding Lights‘ scheme. My mentor was Christopher Hampton who still guides me.
Currently I work as a freelance filmmaker and photographer working with local companies and art organisations, providing promotional and training films.
“Make visible what without you might never have been seen.”

I wrote and directed my first feature ‘Bad Company‘ which was screened at a number of international festivals and won two awards at the Crystal Palace film festival – ‘Best Feature Film’ & ‘Best in Festival’

If you would like to purchase Bad Company on DVD for £4.00 including p&p email me through the contact page.

I am currently developing a script 'Child of War' about child soldiers after been shocked and inspired by the children I met while working in Sudan.

You can purchase the script from Amazon along with many others I have written from Amazon by clicking here.

"I really enjoyed BAD COMPANY. It doesn’t at all have the air of something written to be affordable, the plot centres quite naturally on the two houses. It’s gripping, has an original tone of voice, pulls no punches and is equally uncomfortably amusing and disturbing, all good characteristics in my book."
